“Address Unknown” is based on Ms. Taylor’s powerful and chilling novel.
The book, which is written in letter-form, takes place from 1932-1934 and follows the relationship of a Jewish American man living in California and his German friend and business partner who recently returned to Munich. The story is about the dramatic dissolution of their friendship as the German man is swept up into Nazism. Music by Andrei Balanescu, Schubert.

 

THE JEWISH WIFE

Set in the late 1930's in Germany, The Jewish Wife focuses on the character Judith Keith as she prepares to leave her home and "Aryan" husband for the safety of Amsterdam. The emotional lives of the characters, their inner struggles, their marital relationship, and how they are affected by the circumstances of Nazi Germany are brought to life. Music by Chopin, Mendelsohn, Scott Johnson, Eric Liljestrand.

 


MAGDA

Inspired by Cynthia Ozick's "The Shawl"

Magda is set during and after the Holocaust: the work centers around Rosa and her niece Stella, and how the lives of these two women are affected by the death of Rosa's child Magda in a concentration camp. Magda is about grief, loss, and how the power of memory shapes the lives of these two women in the present. Music by Arvo Part, Charles Ives, Vivaldi, Golijov.

 

 

FRANKIE’S WEDDING

Frankie's Wedding tells the story of Frankie Addams, a restless twelve year old madly jealous of her brother's impending marriage. At the core of this poignant and poetic work is the story of Frankie on the cusp of adolescence, struggling with her feelings of being an outsider and trying to find her connection to the world. Music by Bach, Sam Cooke, Sakamoto, Appalachian Folk and more.

 


MAN SUIT(E)

A lighthearted, slapstick collage about male and female stereotypes in American culture. The piece incorporates text from Mark Twain's "Extracts from Adam's Diary "and "Eve's Diary" and features a sound score derived from the soundtracks of James Bond movies and Spaghetti Westerns

Using an eclectic array of music, ranging from pop to classical to Latin, Crush looks at our desire for unconditional love and idealized romance and how those feelings can conflict with our every day reality. The work features an original script developed by the company and friends. Music by Michael Nyman, Esquivel, Satie, and contemporary Latin artists.
